Majella Münz
Baroque Cello Viola da Gamba Cello

"...the way they celebrate the Baroque art of ornamentation is a sheer delight. Majella Münz is an eloquent cello partner rather than 'just' a continuo support."

about
As a cellist and baroque cellist I am at home in many different musical languages: from Renaissance dances to classical symphonies to contemporary sound explorations.
As a founding member of the award winning ensemble reflektor I am discovering what is possible alongside high level music making: being creative in all directions, deep friendships among colleagues, letting dreams become ideas, become actions.
After finishing my studies on the modern Cello with Julian Steckel, Thomas Kaufmann and Valentin Radutiu I continued to study Baroque Cello with Jan Freiheit, Thomas Pitt and Lea Rahel Bader and finally in the Netherlands with Lucia Swarts. Many other impulses in the area of Early Music I got from Mieneke van der Velden and Irene Klein on the Viola da Gamba, Kate Clark, Christoph Huntgeburth, Kristin v.d. Goltz and from my fantastic colleagues in ensembles I play with - like lautten compagney, Holland Baroque, Concerto Copenhagen, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, {oh!} Orkiestra and Gaechinger Cantorey.
With the ensemble Himmelhofkappelle we won the 2nd price at the international Berlin-Bach-Competition 2021, which was an intense experience into the incredible world of the Trio Sonata. With I Fiori Selvatici we were finalist of the digital Biagio-Marini-Competition in 2020 and played in the big hall of TivoliVredenburg in 2022.
Often I appear on festivals like the Thüringer Bachwochen, Early Music Festival Utrecht, Festival de Música Antigua Sevilla, MA Festival Bruges, Trigonale Kärnten (A), London International Festival of Early Music, Oranjewoud Festival (NL), Resonanzen Vienna, FELIX! urban Köln, PODIUM Festival Esslingen and ensemble reflektors festival ultraBACH in Lüneburg.
With a lot of joy I am also experimenting with the possibilities of voice, improvisation and Viola da Gamba. And with Familie Flöz I am regularly part of an international theatre company.
